Hydroboration. 69. Hydroboration characteristics of lithium borohydride/ethyl acetate in ethyl ether. A new system for controlled hydroboration of alkenes and alkynes
The present invention is a one-step method for efficiently converting carbon-hydrogen bonds into carbon-carbon bonds using a combination of aryl halides, a substrate, and a copper salt as catalyst. This method allows faster introduction of complex molecular entities, a process that would otherwise require many more steps. This invention is particularly relevant for the organic synthesis of complex molecules such as, but not limited to, pharmacophores and explosives.

Treatment of hindered borinic esters, R2 BOR′; with an equimolar quantity of α,α-dichloromethyl methyl ether and lithium triethylcarboxide yields the α-chloroboronic esters, R2 CHClB(OCH3)OR′, in excellent yields. In cases where the steric requirements of R are not sufficient, the steric requirements of R′ can be increased to achieve the synthesis.

Herein we report investigations into generation of tert-alkyl organoboron species using imidoyl chlorides as reagents in the organoboron cyanidation reaction. Although alkenyl side-products predominate in particularly hindered cases, tert-alkyl organoboron species can be successfully generated for less hindered examples.

We report structural characterization of a new member of m‐phenylene ethynylene ring family. This shape‐persistent macrocycle also co‐crystallizes with hexafluoro‐, 1,2,4,5‐tetrafluoro‐, 1,3,5‐trifluoro, and 1,4‐difluorobenzene. The four complexes are almost isostructural, and all show the fluoroarene included into the central cavity of the macrocycle. Characterized by multiple short CH⋅⋅⋅FC contacts
