  Methods utilizing compounds and compositions are provided that comprise selective β-glucuronidase inhibitors. The methods can ameliorate the side effects of chemotherapeutic agents and can improve the efficacy of such agents, including irinotecan and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
