muscarine and the quaternary 1,3-dioxolane (Fourneau series) series are briefly discussed. The most active member of the latter series (2-methyl-4-dimethylaminomethyl-1,3-dioxolane methiodide, (IX), F2268) was shown to consist of a mixture of 60% cis and 40% trans isomers.
