  The dihydroxysterol, isolated from the soft coral Sinularia mayi of Okinawa, was shown by spectroscopic data and chemical conversion to be (23R, 24S)-23,24-dimethylcholesta-5,17(20)E-diene- 3 beta,25-diol (25-hydroxysarcosterol).
