    A composition of organic hetero compounds as an antioxidant and antiwear additive for mineral lubricating oils

    As a multifunctional additive exhibiting antioxidant and antiwear activity for mineral lubricating oil, a composition of ammonium dialkyldithiophosphate (ADTP) with tetraalkyl thiuram disulfide (TDS) has been proposed, which provides lower sulfated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur contents compared with the traditional additive zinc dialkyldithiophosphate used for the same functions. Ammonium dialkyldithiophosphates bearing various alkyl radicals have been synthesized using structurally different amines. The antioxidant efficiency of ADTP samples has been shown by monitoring the formation and degradation of hydroperoxides in a hexadecane medium as a model of mineral oil. The tribological parameters of these compounds have been determined under boundary lubrication conditions.

    A thermoplastic elastomer with well-balanced physical properties is prepared by treating a rubber/resin composition comprised of (a) 45 - 90 wt. parts of a rubbery component and (b) l0 - 55 wt. parts of a polyolefin resin, with a curing agent. The rubbery component (a) is comprised of 5 - l00 wt.% of an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber having an ethylene content of 60 - 78 mole%, a crystallinity of 4 to 20%, a maximum peak temperature of melting of at least l00°C, an MFI of less than 0.01 at 230°C, an HLMFI/MFI of at least 35, an Mw/Mn of at least 4, and a tensile strength at break of at least l00 kg/cm², and 95 - 0% by weight of an ethylene-propylene-nonconjugated diene copolymer. The rubbery component in the cured product has a gel content more than 80 wt.% and less than 97 wt.% as determined by immersion in cyclohexane at 23°C for 48 hours.

    A crosslinkable acrylic rubber composition exhibiting superior balance between the storage stability and cure rate, and having only minimal risk of corroding metals or being contaminated by metals. The cured products made from the composition have excellent tensile strength, permanent compression set, and water resistance. The composition which comprises (1) a halogen-containing acrylic rubber, (2) a triazine thiol compound, (3) a dithiocarbamine acid derivative or a thiuram sulfide compound, or both, (4) a hydrotalcite compound or an organotin compound, or both, (5) an aromatic carboxylic acid compound or an acid anhydride thereof, or both, (6) a white filler with a pH of 2-10, and (7) a silane coupling agent.

    The present invention provides a method for producing a rubber composition containing a rubber component (A) of at least one selected from natural rubbers and synthetic dienic rubbers, an inorganic filler (B), a silane coupling agent (C) and an acidic compound (D), wherein the rubber composition is kneaded in multiple stages, and in the final stage of kneading, the acidic compound (D) is added, and the highest temperature of the rubber composition in the final stage of kneading is from 60 to 120°C. The production method enables production of a rubber composition having a low-heat-generation property while successfully preventing the coupling function activity of the silane coupling agent from lowering.
