  (EN) The method is characterized by the fact that the starting protein is an aqueous solution of said polyosides, containing protein impurities, obtained by lysis of a culture of Streptococcus pneumoniae, clarification and concentration of the polyoside, that, with the aim to reduce the protein content, there are added 5 to 50% of phenol by volume, at a temperature comprised between 5 and 30 C approximately, that the aqueous phase is first stirred, and then separated and collected, and that the phenol treatment, if necessary, is repeated until the protein content of the aqueous phase is lower than a predetermined threshold. (FR) Ce procede est caracterise par le fait que le produit de depart est une solution aqueuse dudit polyoside, contenant des impuretes proteiques, obtenue par lyse d'une culture de Streptococcus pneumoniae, clarification et concentration du polyoside, que, dans le but de reduire la teneur en proteines l'on ajoute de 5 a 50% en volume de phenol, a temperature de 5 a 30 C environ, que l'on agite, puis separe et recueille la phase aqueuse, et que l'on repete, si necessaire, le traitement au phenol jusqu'a ce que la teneur en proteines de la phase aqueuse soit inferieure a un seuil predetermine.
