A process for the preparation of a compound of formula (I), which process comprises converting the epoxide of formula (VI) to the cis-oxazoline of formula (V) by reaction with the cyano-compound of formula (VII) in the presence of an acid, then converting the compound of formula (V) in situ to the cis-amine of formula (III) or a salt thereof and thereafter reacting the cis-amine of formula (III) or salt thereof with an acid chloride of formula (IV) to give the cis-compound of formula (I).
