Direct base-mediated amination of aryl halides with aliphatictertiary amines via an aryne intermediate was developed under transition-metal-free conditions. This operationally simple C–N bond-coupling protocol could tolerate a variety of functionalized aryl halides as well as several aliphatictertiary amines.
