The ability of quinoxalineN-oxides to undergo photochemical reactions was first shown in the case of the di-N-oxide of quinoxaline itself, which was photolyzed to 2-oxo-l,2dihydroquinoxaline 4-N-oxide [10]. Subsequently, studies were carried out of the photochemical reactions of the di-N-oxides of quinoxalines substituted in the 2 and 3 positions with, for the most part, aryl, aralkyl, or aroyl groups
