Linearly-aligned, axiallychiral, enantiomerically pure binaphthyl-based oligomers 1 - 3 were synthesized from enantiomerically pure monomer 4 by an oxidative Hay coupling procedure. The higher oligomers exhibited moderate optical rotation enhancement as compared to the lower analogues, but this effect quickly reached a plateau with the tetramer.
