[formula: see text] While the solid-state photochemistry of crystals has been assumed to proceed to some critical point beyond which the crystal is destroyed, it has now been found that crystal lattice photochemistry often occurs in stages or regimes. In each regime different chemistry generally results. The reaction in different stages may be followed kinetically.
