    The compound o-(diphenylphosphino)thioanisole can be oxidized by S or Se in benzene leading to the derivatives Ph2P(E)C6H4SMe [EPSMe: E = S (1), Se (2)]. These compounds act as bidentate chelate ligands in reactions with the platinum(IV) complex [Me2PtBr2](n) to form trans and cis isomers of the general formula [Me2PtBr2(L-2)] [L-2 = SPSMe (3, 4); SePSMe (5, 6)]. The reaction of the complex [Me2PtBr2](n) with the starting ligand Ph2PC6H4SMe (PSMe) led to a reductive elimination affording the neutral complex [PtBr2(PSMe)] (7). The structure of the complex [Me2PtBr2{o-Ph2P(S)C6H4SMe}] was established by X-ray crystallography. The platinum atom has a distorted octahedral coordination and it is bonded to two methyl carbons, two bromide atoms and two sulfur atoms of the (o-diphenylphosphinesulfide)thioanisole bidentate ligand.     The reaction of the metallo–ligand [Ru(η6-p-cymene)(pz)2(Hpz)] with the platinum complex [PtIMe3}4] affords mixtures of the heterodinuclear complexes [(η6-p-cymene)Ru(μ-pz)3PtMe3] (1) and [(η6-p-cymene)Ru(μ-pz)2(μ-I)PtMe3] (2). The reaction of the iridium derivative [Ir(η5-C5Me5)(pz)2(Hpz)] with [PtIMe3}4] gives [(η5-C5Me5)Ir(μ-pz)2(μ-I)PtMe3] (3). Both [Ru(η6-p-cymene)(pz)2(Hpz)] and [Ir(η5-C5Me5)(pz)2(Hpz)]

    Reactions of the flexible alpha,omega-bis(pyrazol-1-yl) compounds 1,2-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)ethane (L1), 1,8-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)-n-octane (L2), bis[2-(pyrazol-1-yl)ethyl]ether (L3) and bis[2-(pyrazol-1-yl)ethyl]thioether(L4) with precursor organometallic platinum complexes ([(PtBr2Me2)(n)], [(PtIMe3)(4)] and [(PtMe2(cod)]/I-2) are described herein. The spectroscopic characterization of the platinum(IV) products of these reactions [PtBr2Me2pz(CH2)(m)pz}], m = 2 (1) or 8 (2), [PtI2Me2pz(CH2)(2)pz}] (3), [PtMe3(pzCH(2)CH(2)OCH(2)CH(2)pz)]-[BF4] (4) and [PtMe3(pzCH(2)CH(2)SCH(2)CH(2)pz)][CF3SO3] (5), where 'pz' is pyrazol-1-yl, is discussed. Furthermore, solid state structures of 1, a complex with a seven-membered chelate ring, and 4, a complex bearing the neutral kappa N-2,N ',kappa O ligand bis[2-(pyrazol-1-yl)ethyl]ether (L3) are reported.     The synthesis and characterisation of a series of octahedral dimethyldihalidoplatinum(IV) complexes of 4-alkoxy-4'-stilbazoles with the general formula [PtMe2X2(NC5H4CH=CHC6H4OR)(2)] (X = I or Br, R = n-alkyl) is described. Some of the complexes show mesogenic behaviour. The structure of the complex with X = I and R = C7H15 has been determined by X-ray crystallography, revealing a cis coordination geometry with respect to both the methyl and the substituted 4-alkoxy-4'-stilbazole (n-OST) ligands.
