    A new ligand with N8O2 donors containing three potential metal-binding sites (H2L) and its tricopper(II) complex 1 are synthesized. The tricopper species is found to be formed from a hypodentate dicopper(II) complex 2 in basic solutions. Complex 2 may be isolated from the reaction of H2L with a copper source under acidic conditions. Complex 2 can undergo CO2-abstraction to yield an octacopper(II) complex 3. The single crystal structures of complexes 2 and 3 are characterized by X-ray crystallography.

    The invention concerns novel polyamines with formula (I), obtained by the reaction between piperazine and an epihalohydrin or a 1,3-dihalo-2-propanol, n being in the range 2 to 100, R 1 being equally either an H or an alkyl radical containing between 1 and 8 carbon atoms or a hydroxyalkyl radical having the following general formula (II): R 2 being equally either an H or an alkyl radical containing between 1 and 6 carbon atoms; two R 2 may be connected together via a covalent bond in order to form a cycle if they are alkyl radicals. The invention also concerns their preparation method and their use in an absorbing solution based on amines in order to selectively eliminate H 2 S from a gaseous effluent containing H 2 S and CO 2 .
