1,3,4-Oxadiazoles containing a combination of SF5-perfluoroalkyl, SF5-alkyl, polynitroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substituents have been synthesized by cyclization (dehydration) of the corresponding diacyl hydrazines. The properties of oxadiazoles with SF5-perfluoroalkyl substituents are compared with those of similar oxadiazoles containing the corresponding perfluoroalkyl substituent (CF3 in place of SF5).

An oxadiazole of the formula ##STR1## wherein n is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 when X is --F but n is 0, 1, or 2 when X is -NO.sub.2. These oxidiazoles are useful as energetic plasticizers for explosives.
