Construction of two novel 2D layer Mo(W)/Cu/S polymers using bidentate thiolato ligands as linkers

Reactions of thiomolybdate or thiotungstate [MOS3](2-) (M = Mo, W) with 3 equiv. of CuS2P(OMe)(2) led to the formation of two novel Mo(W)/Cu/S polymers [Et4N][MOS3Cu3} {S2P(OMe) (1, M = Mo; 2, M = W). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal that 1 and 2 are the first examples that containing anionic 2D (6,3) net with nest-shaped [MOS3Cu3 (.) S2P(OMe)(2)] clusters as 3-connecting nodes and tridentate [S2P(OMe)(2)](-) ligands as linkers. Both 1 and 2 crystallize in a noncentrosymmetric space group and the former polymer shows good second-order NLO performance. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Construction of three novel luminescent polymers containing {CuS2P(OR)2} (R=Me, Et) building blocks linked by 4,4′-bipyridine ligands

The self-assembly reactions of the polymers CuSP(OMe)(2) or CuS2P(OEt)(2) with 4,4'-bipyridine(4,4'-bipy) under mild conditions gave a novel two-dimensional network {[CuS2P(OMe)(2)](4,4'-bipy)(0.5)}(n) (1) and two novel polymeric chains {[CuS2P(OMe)(2)](4)(4,4'-bipy)}(n) (2) and {[CuS2P(OEt)(2)](4,4'-bipy)(0.5)}(n) (3). Complex 1 represents the first layered structure incorporating intriguing linear 1CuS(2)P(OMe)(2))(n) building blocks in the CuDDP (DDP = general dialkyl dithiophosphate) system. Complex 2 is the first one-dimensional polymer with {CuS2P(OMe)(2)}(4) fragments connected by 4,4'-bipy ligands while 3 is also the first hanging ladder-like chain with 4,4'-bipy ligands as cross rungs in this system. Complexes 1-3 exhibit strong photoluminescence with the peak maximum at 681, 578 and 644 nm respectively. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
