  2,3-Dihydro-1,3-di-3'-methoxypropyl-4,5-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene (2, Carb) reacts with Pd(MeCO₂)₂ or Me₂SnCl₂ to give the complexes (Carb)₂Pd(MeCO₂)₂ (5) and (Carb)SnMe₂Cl₂ (6), respectively. The X-ray structure analysis of 5 clearly demonstrates the η¹-coordination of the carbene ligand in the solid state while NMR data imply a weak Pd-O interaction in solution. In 6, the X-ray structure analysis reveals Sn-O distances close to the sum of the van der Waals-radii.
