(EN) Pharmaceutical compositions are described for preventing neurotoxicity, comprising as active ingredient the stereospecific (+) enantiomer, having (3S, 4S) configuration of $g(D)6 tetrahydrocannabinol type compounds. The compositions are particularly effective in alleviating and even preventing neurotoxicity due to acute injuries to the central nervous system, including mechanical trauma, compromised or reduced blood supply as may occur in cardiac arrest or stroke, or poisonings. They are also effective in the treatment of certain chronic degenerative diseases characterized by gradual neuronal loss.(FR) On décrit des compositions pharmaceutiques destinées à la prévention de la neurotoxicité, comprenant, comme principe actif, l'énantiomère stéréospécifique (+) présentant la configuration (3S, 4S) des composés de type $g(D)6 tétrahydrocannabinol. Ces compositions permettent d'atténuer et même prévenir de manière efficace la neurotoxicité induite par des blessures aiguës au niveau du système nerveux central, dont les traumatismes mécaniques, un apport sanguin déficient ou réduit tel que dans le cas d'un arrêt cardiaque, d'une attaque ou d'empoisonnements. Les compositions de l'invention permettent de traiter de manière efficace certaines affections dégénératives chroniques qui sont caractérisées par une dépopulation neuronale progressive.
