    Melamine trisulfonic acid, which is easily prepared by the reaction of melamine with neat chlorosulfonic acid, is able to efficiently catalyze the chemoselective methoxymethylation of alcohols with dimethoxymethane (DMM). All reactions were performed under mild and completely heterogeneous reaction conditions in good to high yields.

    Melamine trisulfunic acid is employed as a recyclable catalyst for the condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 3‐methyl‐l‐phenyl‐2‐pyrazolin‐5‐one. This condensation reaction was performed in ethanol under refluxing conditions giving 4,4′‐(arylmethylene)‐bis‐(3‐methyl‐1‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazol‐5‐ols) in 80‐96% yields.

    Novel spiro[pyrazolo[3,4‐b]pyridine‐4,3′‐indoline] derivatives were prepared by the three‐component reaction of isatins 3‐methyl‐1‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazol‐5‐amine and Meldrum's acid in the presence of a catalytic amount of melamine trisulfonic acid. This protocol provides a simple one‐step procedure with the advantages of easy work‐up, mild reaction conditions and environmentally benign.
