Preparation of chlorodivinylborane transition metal complexes and their nucleophilic substitution at boron

boron trichloride and dimethydivinyltin, reactions under photochemical conditions with ironpentacarbonyl and cyclopentadienyldicarbonylcobalt to give (η5-chlorodivinylborane)tricarbonyliron (II) and (η5-chlorodivinylborane)cyclopentadienylcobalt (III), respectively, in high yield. Complexes II and III readily undergo base-assisted nucleophilic substitution at boron.
