    Provided is a polyurethane polymer which is excellent in oil resistance, weatherability, light resistance, heat resistance, hot water resistance, hydrolysis resistance, strength, chlorine resistance, and chemical resistance, and which can be produced simply and economically. The polyurethane polymer is produced by polymerizing at least two components: a vinyl polymer (A) having a mercapto group at each end of the molecular chain produced by a reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization method, and an organic polyisocyanate (B). Also provided are polyurethane-based materials containing the polyurethane polymer, and polyurethane elastic fiber.

    A nearly colorless transparent plastic material usable as lens, filter and so forth, which can exhibit an antiglare effect without lowering the quantity of visible rays by using together a complex compound of a specified transition metal element and a dye or a pigment which absorbs a spectrum complementary to the absorption spectrum with a specified wavelength of the complex compound. The plastic material comprises a polymer prepared by polymerizing one or more polymerizable monomers in the presence of a polymerization initiator or catalyst, and the complex compound is represented by the general formula (A)nM, wherein A represents either a ligand selected from the group consisting of those giving chelate complexes having eight specified basic chemical structures and those giving organometallic complexes, or a ligand forming a cyclic ligand composed of nAs; M represents Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, or Lu; and n represents 2, 3 or 4 depending on the kind of element.

    A transparent plastic material which is free from color tone unevenness, does not cause deposition, can selectively absorb only the light with specified wavelengths, selectively intercepts or reduces dazzling light, and intercepts hazardous ultraviolet radiations. The material comprises a polymer produced by polymerizing at least one monomer in the presence of a polymerization initiator or catalyst and containing a complex compound represented by the general formula (I): A₂M(OH)(H₂O), wherein M represents Sc, Y, La, Pt, Nd, Pm, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm or Lu; and A represents a ligand having a fundamental structure represented by formula (a) and forming a chelate complex containing at least either an aryl group or a heterocyclic group.

    A method for producing a hydroxyl-terminated (meth) acrylic polymer which comprises converting a halogen atom in a terminal structure of the general formula (1)         -CH2-C(R1)(CO2R2)(X)     (1) wherein R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 is alkyl containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, aryl containing 6 to 20 carbon atoms or aralkyl containing 7 to 20 carbon atoms, and X is chlorine, bromine or iodine, of a (meth)acrylic polymer obtained by polymerizing a (meth)acrylic monomer using an organic halide or a halogenated sulfonyl compound as an initiator and, as a catalyst, a metal complex with a central metal selected from the elements belonging to the groups 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the periodic table, into a hydroxyl-containing substituent. The present invention can provide, in an easy and simple manner, a (meth)acrylic polymer which is hydroxyl-terminated at both ends in a high proportion and which has been difficult to produce in the prior art. It can give a cured product with good curing characteristics.

    The invention provides a photocurable resin composition which inhibits the deactivation of a bisacylphosphine oxide-series photopolymerization initiator and is useful for coating optical fibers. The photocurable resin composition comprises (A) a polyurethane (meth)acrylate oligomer, (B) an ethylenically unsaturated compound, (C) a bisacylphosphine oxide-series photopolymerization initiator, and (D) a tertiary amine and no tin component. Incorporation of the component (D) inhibits the decomposition and deactivation of the component (C). The component (A) may contain an aliphatic C14-40 polyol (hydrogenated dimerdiol, 12-hydroxystearyl alcohol) as a polyol component. This resin composition is used for a primary coating of a glass fiber or an indirect coating of an optical fiber through the primary layer, the coating layer being cured by light irradiation to provide an optical fiber coated with the resin composition.
