    There is disclosed compounds of the structural formula: or wherein X is a radical of the structural formula: -CH2-CH2⁅NH-CH2-CH2⁆ y and y is 0,1,2 or 3; which when combined with a nonhalogenated vulcanizable diene containing elastomer such as polybutadiene, polyisoprene, styrene/butadiene copolymers, terpolymers of acrylonitrile butadiene and styrene and blends thereof accelerate the_ rate of vulcanization without detrimentally impacting the processing safety of the rubber. These compounds either in free form structural formula (I) or as preformed complexes with zinc structural formula (II) in the plus 2 valence state offer significantly enhanced rates of cure and excellent final physical properties without a significant loss of processing safety. The preformed nonhalogenated zinc complexes (II) may be added to sulfur vulcanizable rubbers at levels that maintain typical levels of zinc in the rubber compound.

    The present invention has as its object the provision of a production process of a rubber composition containing a modified conjugated diene-based polymer, which can provide a rubber composition in which processability is excellent, and a filling agent (filler), when contained, has favorable dispersibility therein. The production process of a rubber composition according to the present invention includes: a first step of kneading a modified conjugated diene-based polymer that is obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing a conjugated diene compound and has at least one nitrogen-containing functional group selected from the group consisting of a primary amino group, a secondary amino group, a tertiary amino group, a primary amino group having been converted into an onium group, a secondary amino group having been converted into an onium group and a tertiary amino group having been converted into an onium group, and a basic compound having an acid dissociation constant of not lower than 8.0; and a second step of kneading the kneaded product obtained in the first step and a cross-linking agent.

    Provided is a method of producing a polymer composition that has satisfactory processability, and when containing a filler, has satisfactory dispersibility of the filler, and that is suited for the production of a crosslinked polymer (tire) excellent in low hysteresis loss property. The method of producing a polymer composition according to the invention includes: a first step of kneading (A) a conjugated diene-based polymer that is a polymer of a conjugated diene compound or a copolymer of a conjugated diene compound and an aromatic vinyl compound, and is a reaction product between an active polymerization end and a compound represented by any one of the general formulae (1) to (3), and (B) a basic compound having an acid dissociation constant of 8.0 or more; and a second step of kneading a kneaded product obtained in the first step and a crosslinking agent.
