Contrary to previous reports, the reaction of vinyl chloride with phosphorus trichloride and oxygen gives as the main products a 1·7 : 1 mixture of Cl2P(:O)·O·CHCl·CH2Cl and Cl2P(:O)·CHCl·CH2Cl; the former has been incorrectly assigned the structure Cl2P(:O)·CH2·CHCl2.
