    There is provided a power transmission belt which comprises a compression layer and an adhesive rubber layer which are adhered to each other by vulcanizing together and which has aramid fiber cords embedded in the adhesive rubber layer, wherein the compression layer and the adhesive rubber layer are formed of vulcanizate of an ethylene-&agr;-olefin-diene rubber compound and wherein the aramid fiber cords having a first twisting coefficient and a final twisting coefficient both in the range from 650 to 950 are adhesion treated with a resorcin-formalin-latex adhesive composition wherein the latex comprises at least one of chlorosulfonated polyethylene and alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene in an amount of 50-100% by weight based on the solid components of the resorcin-formalin-latex and adhered to and embedded in the adhesive rubber layer. A process for the production of such power transmission belt is also provided.

    A process for producing a cellulose-ester-resin-containing protective film for polarizers through film formation by melt casting. The protective film diminishes long-period optical unevenness and suffers no unevenness even after long-term storage. Also provided are a protective film for polarizers, a polarizer employing the film, and a liquid-crystal display. The process for producing a protective film for polarizers is a process for producing by the melt casting method a polarizer-protective film containing a cellulose ester resin. The process for producing a protective film for polarizers is characterized in that the protective film contains at least one compound selected among compounds represented by the following general formula (I) and compounds having an acrylate or methacrylate group and a phenolic hydroxy group in the same molecule and that the protective film extruded from a casting die at a draw ratio of 10-30 during film formation by melt casting is transferred while holding/pressing it between a touch roll having an elastic surface and a cooling roll.

    The present invention is directed to a method wherein fibers are treated with a first, second, and third treatment solution. The third treatment solution includes a chlorinated rubber and a rubber-containing composition having acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber or hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber. The treated fibers are positioned contiguous, and adhered, to an unvulcanized hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber composition which is then vulcanized. The resulting rubber-fiber composite exhibits improved adhesion between the hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber composition and the fibers. Adhesion is maintained in a hot environment even if subjected to what would conventionally be considered conditions that would result in thermal deterioration under high temperature. Thus, the rubber-fiber composite exhibits enhanced durability under the severe service conditions experienced by rubber-fiber composites.
