    Provided herein is an implant for delivering a hydrophobic active agent to a target tissue. The implant may include a scaffold defining a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, wherein the scaffold is substantially impermeable to a hydrophobic active agent, and a silicone tubing having a wall permeable to the active agent, wherein a first length of the silicone tubing is affixed to the first surface of the scaffold, wherein the two ends of the silicone tubing extend from the first surface, and wherein a path outlined by a second length of the tubing within the first length is circuitous. Also provided is a method of using the implant to locally deliver a hydrophobic active agent to a target tissue, and kits that find use in performing the present method.

    Novel thermochromic and/or photochromic compositions are described. The thermochromic compositions include a thermoset resin, cholesterol, water, and dye, while photochromic compositions include a benzene and a binder, such as silica gel. When mixed, the ingredients of the thermochromic and photochromic compositions form chromic cells with an outer shell comprised of either the thermoset resin (in the case of thermochromic compositions) or potassium nitrate (in the case of photochromic compositions). When the chromic compositions are exposed to either a heat or light stimulus, the chromic cells compress to causing the dye within the cells to no longer be visible, thereby creating a color-changing effect.

    Systems and methods for remote thermographic assessment of tissue viability are disclosed. A system may include a controllable source of one or more thermal stimuli to be applied to a tissue, a measurement system to measure a heat response of the tissue before, during, and/or after the application of the thermal stimuli, and an electronic device that may control either one or both of the source of thermal stimuli and the measurement system. The electronic device may also receive tissue thermal response data from the measurement system, and may further calculate a measure of tissue viability. A method of determining tissue viability may include supplying a thermal stimulus to a tissue, receiving, by a measurement device, the thermal response of the tissue to the stimuli, and a comparison of the thermal response data to at least some viability threshold values. The results may be displayed in a graphical manner.
