  Vinylic trifluoromethyl triflones, in particular cyclic ones, constitute potentially valuable building-blocks for further syntheses. Their uses in Diels-Alder cycloadditions as dienophiles or dienes led only to moderate yields of expected products. However, under fluoride activation, they afforded unexpected tricycle compounds.

  A new tandem CN and CC bond‐forming reaction has been achieved through RhII/Pd0 catalysis. The sequence first involves an iodine(III) oxidant, then the in situ generated iodine(I) by‐product is used as a coupling partner. The overall process demonstrates the synthetic value of iodoarenes produced in trivalent iodine reagent mediated oxidations.

  trifluoromethaneselenosulfonates are strong electrophilic reagents which add rapidly to olefins to deliver β-sulfenyl and β-selenyl triflones. These products are converted in high yields to vinyl triflones by different techniques under mild conditions. This two-step procedure is an efficient route to vinyl triflones from non-functionalized olefins.
