  Reaction of 1-naphthylamine with benzoyl chlorides and ammonium thiocyanate yielded N-benzoyl-N'-(naphthalene-1-yl) thioureas, which underwent oxidative cyclisation in the presence of phosphorous pentachloride and phosphorous oxichloride affording the title compounds.
