Herein, a series of new ruthenium(II) complexes with the general molecular formula [RuCl2(arene)(NHC)], (arene = η6-p-cymene, NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) were synthesized from in situ prepared silver(I)-NHCs by the transmetallation method.
