Different routes to tripod ligands CH3C(CH2C5H5)(CH2PR′2)(CH2PR″2), 5, containing a cyclopentadienyl unit and two additional donor groups are described. The syntheses involve Figure options, 2, or CH3C(CH2Cl)(CH2Br)(CH2C5H5), 12, respectively as intermediates. The compounds 2 and 12 respectively are obtained from Figure options, 1, or CH3C(CH2Cl)(CH2Br)(CH2OSO2CF3), 11, by reaction with CpMgCl. The
