The monodeuterated trifluoromethylphospane F3CP(H)D is formed by the reaction of F3CP(H)I with Me3SnD in high yield and can be isolated in pure form. It has been characterized using IR, Raman, NMR(1H, 19F, 13P, 13C) and mass spectroscopic methods. The assignment of the vibrational spectra is confirmed by comparison with the data of F3CPH2 and F3CPD2 as well as by a normal coordinate analysis.
