In this study, Rh(III)-catalyzed C−H bifunctionalization and direct vinylene annulation of sulfoxonium ylides and N-carbamoylindoles with vinylene carbonate was accomplished, which afforded a series of naphthalenones containing a β-ketosulfoxonium ylide moiety, isocoumarins, and pyrimidones.
