  (EN) The present invention provides for a method of treating preterm labor in a subject in need of such treatment comprising administration of a therapeutically effective amount of an inhibitor of 5$(a)-reductase type 1 to the subject. The present invention further provides for a method of preventing premature labor in a subject susceptible thereto comprising administration of a labor-preventive amount of an inhibitor of 5$g(a)-reductase type 1 to the subject. Further, the present invention also relates to a method of reducing the risk of premature labor in a subject at risk therefor. The present invention also provides for a method for stopping labor preparatory (i.e., prior) to Cesarean delivery in a subject in need of such treatment comprising administration of a therapeutically effective amount of an inhibitor of 5$g(a)-reductase type 1 to the subject. Further, the present invention provides for compositions useful in the methods of the present invention, as well as a method of manufacture of a medicament useful for treating preterm labor and for stopping labor preparatory to Cesarean delivery.(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de traiter l'accouchement prématuré chez un sujet nécessitant un tel traitement, et consistant à administrer à celui-ci une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un inhibiteur de la 5$g(a)-réductase de type 1. Cette invention se rapporte en outre à un procédé destiné à empêcher un accouchement prématuré chez un sujet présentant ce risque, consistant à administrer à celui-ci une dose d'un inhibiteur de la 5$g(a)-réductase de type 1, susceptible de prévenir l'accouchement. De plus, cette invention a également trait à un procédé permettant de réduire le risque d'accouchement prématuré chez un sujet à risque. Cette invention prévoit également un procédé destiné à stopper la phase préparatoire (c.-à-d. antérieure) à un accouchement par césarienne chez un sujet nécessitant un tel traitement, qui consiste à administrer à celui-ci une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un inhibiteur de la 5$g(a)-réductase de type 1.
