    Disclosed is a process of oxidizing an alcohol of formula ROH (I), wherein R represents a saturated or unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic C3-C50 hydrocarbon group which is optionally substituted with a heteroatom, characterized in that the oxidation is performed in a liquid phase using a peroxide as oxidant and in the presence of a base compound and a catalyst comprising at least: (i) gold metal, (ii) platinum metal and/or palladium metal, and (iii) a CeO2, TiO2 and/or carbon support.

A kit for performing the measurement method of the present invention is also disclosed.

The resin for cosmetics is a resin for cosmetics obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture containing: (A): at least one selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, maleic acid, itaconic acid and crotonic acid, (B): at least one selected from the group consisting of alkyl(meth)acrylate monomers having an alkyl group with a carbon number of 1 to 4, and (C): at least one selected from the group consisting of alkyl(meth)acrylate monomers having an alkyl group with a carbon number of 5 or more, wherein the monomer mixture contains 10 to 20 parts by weight of the (A), 40 to 80 parts by weight of the (B) and 10 to 40 parts by weight of the (C), based upon the total of the (A) to (C) taken as 100 parts by weight.
