The reaction of ferrous halides FeX2 (X Cl, Br, I) with tris(trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadienyllithium [η5-C5H2(SiMe3)3-1,2,4]Li in THF at −95°C leads to the formation of reactive intermediates which can be trapped with CO to give pentanesoluble dicarbonylhalo complexes [η5-C5H2(SiMe3)3-1,2,4]Fe(CO)2X in good yields.
