    The Enantioselectivity of the biohydrolysis of sec-alkyl sulfate esters using a bacterial alkylsulfatase from Rhodococcus ruber DSM 44541 was dramatically enhanced in presence of additives ('enhancers') such as carbohydrates, polyethylene glycol, detergents, metal ions and through enzyme immobilization. In presence of iron, the E value for the kinetic resolution of (+/-)-3- and (+/-)-4-octyl sulfate was improved from E= 3.9 to greater than or equal to 200 and E= 1.1 to 10, respectively.     Disclosed is a resin composition having excellent antistatic properties and practical physical properties. The resin comprises (i) a styrene resin; (ii) a polyethylene oxide having a viscosity-average molecular weight ranging from 15,000 to 1,200,000; (iii) either or both of a (meth) acrylate resin and an oxide selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide, zinc oxide and magnesium oxide; (iv) either a surfactant selected from specific sulfonic acid salts or a surfactant selected from specific alkyl sulfates; and, optionally, (v) a (poly)ethylene glycol having an average molecular weight ranging from 62 to 1,200. The resin composition also provides excellent resistance to hot water.
