  Novel N.sup.G -protected or unprotected-L-argininal-dibutyl acetals (I) can be prepared from L-argininal derivatives (III) merely by reacting in an azeotropic solvent in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid. In the products (I), L-form amounts to more than 99%, without further optical resolution. The L-argininal acetals (I) are useful as starting materials for preparing peptidyl-L-argininal derivatives which can provide protease inhibitors or ligands used for affinity chromatography of various proteases.

  Novel N.sup.G-保护或未保护-L-精氨醛二丁酰缩醛(I)可以仅通过在沸腾溶剂中在对甲苯磺酸存在下反应来从L-精氨醛衍生物(III)制备。在产物(I)中，L-型的含量超过了99%，无需进一步的光学分辨。L-精氨醛缩醛(I)可用作制备肽基-L-精氨醛衍生物的起始材料，这些衍生物可提供蛋白酶抑制剂或用于各种蛋白酶亲和层析的配体。
