treatment with excess of phenyl-lithium in ether yield mixtures of 1,5-, 1,6-, and 2,6-diphenylnaphthalenes. It is concluded that 1,5-elimnation of lithium halide to give a 1,6-didehydro[10]annulene intermediate does not occur.
