In another embodiment, the method comprises: providing a corrosion-inhibiting additive that comprises an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde, a sulfur-containing compound, and at least one nitrogen-containing surfactant that is anionic, nonionic, amphoteric, or zwitterionic; contacting a surface with the corrosion-inhibiting additive; and allowing the corrosion-inhibiting additive to interact with the surface, whereby corrosion of the surface is at least partially inhibited or a portion of an undesirable substance on the surface is removed.
