Abstract Through the Cu(I)-catalyzed coupling of diazophosphonates with terminalalkynes, an efficient method for the synthesis of allenylphosphonates has been developed. Simple and inexpensive CuI is used as the catalyst and the reaction is conducted under mild conditions. A convenient CsF-promoted iodocyclization reaction of trisubstituted allenylphosphonates with iodine to construct highly functionalized oxaphospholene derivatives has been developed. A series of readily available starting materials including ferrocenylallenes, aromatic and alkyl substituted allenes can undergo the process successfully.
