[Me2NCH(Me)CH2E]2 [(NE**)2] and [Me2NCH2CH(Me)E]2 [(NE*)2] (E = S, Se, Te) have been obtained by the reactions of NaSH or M2E2 (M =N a or K) with Me2NCH2CHMeCl. The former reaction affords mainly (NE**)2 (E = S) while from the latter mixtures of (NE**)2 and (NE*)2 [referred to as (NE)2 ,E=S , Se, Te] were isolated, the ratios in the mixtures depending on the chalcogen.
