The conjugate has low toxicity and an ability to carry more than one drug molecule to improve solubility, sustain and control drug release, and has a remarkably enhancing effect especially to antitumor drug such as paclitaxel and camptothecin etc.

Alternative for tinhydrides: The crucial choice of initiators and reaction conditions for Lewis base borane mediated radical chain reduction reactions has been investigated in detail. An inverted selectivity was found for the reduction of iodides versus xanthates as compared to tinhydride reagents.

The influence of the length of alkyl substituents on various kinetic, thermodynamic, and spectroscopic properties of 4-(dialkylamino)pyridines has been determined by using a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. The chain-length dependence of these properties has subsequently been analyzed by using a quantitative model for through-bond inductiveeffects.

Novel bis-aminopyridinium salts are useful as phase transfer catalysts in the preparation of aromatic ethers by the reaction of hydroxyaromatic compound alkali metal salts (e.g., bisphenol A disodium salt) with activated halo- or nitro-substituted aromatic coumpounds (e.g., 4-nitro-N-methyl- phthalimide). The bis-aminopyridinium salts may be prepared by the reaction of aminopyridines with bis-carbonium ion-generating compounds such as dibromoalkanes.
