Abstract 1,3‐Dipolar cycloaddition of 3‐arylsydnones with α,β‐acetylenicketones containing nitrofuran moiety has been studied, and it was observed that the dipolar cycloaddition is regiospecific, forming 1‐aryl‐3‐(5‐nitro‐2‐furyl)‐4‐aroylpyrazoles exclusively.

The study of the regiochemical trend during the cycloaddition suggested that the nitrofuran ring exert no effect on the regiochemistry of the reaction as observed in the case of nitrofuran containing chalcones.
