Organophosphonodichloridates react exothermically with DMSO in anhydrous solvents to give P1P2-disubstituted pyrophosphoric and pyrophosphonic acids. MeSCH2Cl, (MeS)2CH2, Me2S and Me2S2 were the sulphur compounds identified as by-products of the reaction.
