  The product obtained by the Pechmanr condensation, followed by the decarboxylation, of p-orsellinic acid with ethyl acetoacetate has been established not to be such 4,5-dimethyl-7-hydroxycoumarin as previously reported, but to be 2,5-dimethyl-7-hydroxychromone.
