We studied the effect on the reactivity of acid-catalyzed O-benzylation caused by the isomeric core triazine structures in these compounds by carrying out a kinetic study and estimating relative basicities using model compounds

    Series of substituted-s-triazines (1-22) were synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity against six representative Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. Many compounds have displayed comparable antibacterial activity against Bacillus sphaericus and significantly active against other tested organisms with reference to streptomycin.     Disclosed herein are bifacial peptide nucleic acid probes. These probes can include a triplex hybrid forming moiety (e.g., a plurality of binding motifs disposed along a peptidyl backbone) conjugated to a prosthetic group. The triplex hybrid forming moiety can bind to a non-canonical base pairing site in a target nucleic acid via triplex hybridization. In this way, a variety of prosthetic groups (e.g., dyes, labels, reactive groups, etc.) can be selectively delivered to a target nucleic acid (e.g.,in vivo,in vitro, orex vivo).

    A method for producing an isocyanuric acid derivative having one hydrocarbon group. The method having a hydrocarbon group including a first step of obtaining a compound of the following formula (1) from the compound of formula (0), a second step of obtaining a compound of the following formula (2) from the compound of formula (1), a third step of obtaining a compound of the following formula (3) from the compound of formula (2), and a fourth step of obtaining a compound of the following formula (4) from the compound of formula (3): (wherein X 1 s are each a chlorine atom, a fluorine atom, or a bromine atom, Bn is a benzyl group in which at least one hydrogen atom in a benzene ring is optionally substituted with methyl group, and R is a C 1-10 hydrocarbon group), wherein all the steps are carried out at a temperature of not exceeding 100° C.
