A Cu(0)/Selectfluor system-catalyzed intramolecular C-sp2-H/C-sp2-H bond cross-dehydrogenative coupling of 2-aryloxybenzaldehydes is described. A variety of substituted xanthone derivatives are synthesized in moderate to excellent yields.
