Several deoxyadenosine triphosphates containing modifications at the 8-position have been synthesized. Suitably protected 8-bromodeoxyadenosines were coupled with five imidazole-containing moieties by nucleophilic aromatic substitution or Sonagashira coupling to give modified nucleosides that were then triphosphorylated.
