The present invention provides 6-substituted 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d]azepines of Formula I as selective 5-HT2C receptor agonists for the treatment of 5-HT2C associated disorders including obesity, obsessive/compulsive disorder, depression, and anxiety: I where: R6 is -C=C-R10, -O-R12, -S-R14, or -NR24R25; and other substituents are as defined in the specification.

Acid catalyzed α-alkylation of β-Aminothiophenes using aldehydes and selenophenol synthesis of bis(3-amino-2-thienyl)methane derivatives

The acid-catalyzed reaction between beta-aminothiophenes and aldehydes, in the presence of selenophenol, leads to alpha-alkyl beta-aminothiophenes. The reduction step is not observed with thiophenol. Without selenol, a second alkylation reaction occurs and bis(3-amino-2-thienyl)methane derivatives are isolated.
