A number of new BODIPYdyes with benzothiazolyl substituents have been synthesized that exhibit long-wavelength absorption and act as strong fluorophores. The optical properties of the dyes were studied by using spectroscopic methods and quantum-chemical calculations. The structural peculiarities of the dyes obtained, in comparison to their analogues, were studied by X-ray analysis.
