  A series of hydrazidines with a structural similarity to the guanidines of the guanethidine series was synthesized. The observation that the hydrazidines raised blood pressure led to their screening as nasal decongestants. The most active compound, 3-(hexahydro-1H-azepino)propionimidic acid hydrazide dihydrochloride, was less potent than phenylephrine hydrochloride.
