  Bismuth(III) triflate [Bi(OTf)(3)] has been developed as an efficient and mild catalyst for intramolecular Friedel-Crafts cyclizations of tertiary alcohols to prepare disubstituted tetrahydronapthalenes, chromans, thiochromans, tetrahydroquinolines, and tetrahydroiso-quinolines.
